DUMPING my child at daycare

Recently, I saw a post that outlined how easy it was for Mums who just "dump their toddlers at day care and go off to work for eight hours and have a break" and how hard it is to be a stay at home or work from home mum, having to look after your child whilst getting one million other things done.

HEY

No...

1. None of us have it harder than anyone else. We are all just trying to do our best and make what we believe to be the right decisions for our children. There is no wrong or right or easier or harder.

2. Let me just tell you what is involved with "dumping my toddler at day care and going off to work"

  • I work 40 hours a week, outside of those 40 hours, I also have to do all of my house work, raise, teach, tame, bath, feed and nurture a toddler and attempt to look after myself. I also study in the hopes of starting my own business so I can spend more time with my son.
  • I went back to work when Achilles was four months old. Not because I wanted to or because I chose to... because I literally had to, to be able to feed and provide my family with shelter.
  • Most days, I fight back tears because I don't WANT to leave him... but I HAVE to. If I want us to have any sort of successful future, I have to do this, for us.
  • Everyday I wonder: Are they looking after him properly? Is he eating? Is he drinking? Is he happy? Is he learning?
  • I have had 23 days off with Achilles this year already. Guess how many sick days I get? SIX... Every day I cannot "dump" my son at daycare, I now don't get $200 of my pay. On top of that, I feel judged at work for taking so much time off and worry about losing my job.
It's not easy so please don't be so quick to judge someone in a situation you have never experienced.

Mums are mums... No matter if you're a working Mum, a shift worker Mum, a Defence Mum, a work from home Mum, a stay at home Mum, a single Mum or any kind of Mum. We are all, in the end Mums... we have the same title, the same job: to do the best we possibly can for our children.

Can we agree to at least tone it down on the judgement a little and maybe start empowering one another so we all feel good about our decisions instead of constantly being in fear of being judged or shamed.

STOP. LOVE.

The End! <3

Naked Beauty with BIOME

Biome (pronounced Bi-ome, not Bi-o-me like I originally thought)  has been one of my favourite stores for such a long time. Every time I step inside, I just get such a natural and pure feeling and there is a very good reason for that. EVERY thing in any Biome store is ethically sourced, natural and CRUELTY FREE and also from companies who make their products without exploitation to people or animals.

Recently, I was invited to attend the Biome store in Balmoral, Brisbane who had just opened their very own Naked Beauty Bar. A place to purchase natural ingredients to make your own skin care at home.

I couldn't have been more excited about this idea. I've recently transitioned to using cruelty free products only and whilst the range is big, the idea of making my own skin care excited me!

Whilst they had so many recipes to choose from, I wanted to be real with myself and I chose the most simple recipes that appealed to me and my skin. Recipes that didn't involve too many ingredients and were easy to make!

Here's what ingredients I chose:
Once they're empty, I can go back and re-fill the jars!

PINK CLAY (Click for more info)

I got pink clay because it really is an allrounder AND I can just mix it with water and it becomes a brilliant face mask. I can also mix it with the avocado oil to make it more of a hydrating mask. Pink clay is perfect for sensitive skin and will gently exfoliate and leave your skin feeling amazingly fresh and clean.

SEAWEED POWDER (Click for more info)

Seaweed powder can be used for skin, hair or even in your bath for a nice detox for your whole body. it feels so cold and fresh on the skin!

YELLOW CLAY (Click for more info)

Yellow clay has so many uses as you will read about in the link above. I found it really hard to use as a mask so I will now use this as a natural exfoliant for all over my body and face!

AVOCADO OIL

Avocado oil is not on the website because, it could get messy with shipping but avocado oil is incredible. It can calm the skin, hydrate, prevent further skin damage and even has a slight UV protection. This can be added to a number of DIY skin care recipes.

I also picked up some raw sugar and coffee grounds so I can make my own scrubs!

Playing around with all of the masks!

I cannot wait to get creating! Have you ever made your own skin care?!

Lots of jars filled with Naked Beauty goodness!!

You can actually purchase a selection of their Naked Beauty Bar ingredients here! AND for all your DIY Skin Care recipes, Biome have a WHOLE blog dedicated to everything you can make yourself around the home HERE!

Keep smiling!
